My Lord,
12020
In the 5th. paragraph of my Des-
-patch No. 50, dated the 5th. March, 1906, in which I for-
-warded Reports on Queen's College for the year 1905, I
stated that an attempt to raise the general standard of the
education given in that College by the formation of a
Collegiate Class there had failed and that the question
of starting Evening Extension Classes to be held at the
College but to be open to all was under consideration.
2.
I had referred this question on
the 23rd. November last to a Committee consisting of
the
Registrar-General, who has knowledge of Chinese educational
wants, the Head Master of Queen's College, the Inspector
of Schools, and the Assistant Director of Public Works
with Mr. V. H. Williams the Head Master of the Victoria
British School, who had had experience of evening classes
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
THE EARL OF ELGIN,
K.G.,
